Braces Treatment Options in Nelson & Richmond

At Nelson Orthodontics, we offer a wide range of braces to suit every patient’s needs and lifestyle.

Metal Braces

Metal braces are the most common type of braces patients look for and remain a highly effective way to straighten teeth. Today’s metal braces are smaller, smoother, and more comfortable than ever before, making them a reliable choice for patients of all ages. Using stainless steel brackets and wires, metal braces apply gentle, continuous pressure to gradually move your teeth into their ideal positions. You can even choose colours for coloured modules on your brackets to match your style and personality!

Ceramic Braces

For patients who want a more discreet aesthetic option, we offer ceramic braces. Ceramic brackets blend in with your natural tooth-colour and give a less noticeable appearance during treatment.

Mix and Match Braces

Many patients choose to mix and match their braces for both style and function. A common choice is ceramic braces on the upper teeth combined with metal braces on the lower teeth. This not only creates a balanced look but also makes it easier to keep your braces clean, especially around the smaller lower front teeth.

Braces FAQs

  • Braces don’t usually hurt during placement, but you may feel soreness or pressure for a few days after adjustments. Over-the-counter pain relievers and soft foods help during this time.

  • Most people wear braces for 18–24 months, but treatment can be shorter or longer depending on the severity of the alignment issue, age, and how well you follow your orthodontist’s instructions.

  • The fee for treatment varies from patient to patient.  Generally we require a 27% deposit on the day the braces are fitted.

We accept monthly automatic payments for the remainder of the cost, spread across the time of treatment.  The payments do not represent a charge per visit, but are a convenient way of dividing the total cost of treatment.   Another alternative is quarterly credit card charges.  We also offer a small discount if the total treatment cost is paid up front on the day the braces are fitted.
